The Swindon Night Shelter (TSNS) was founded in 2008 and is a Christian based organisation motivated by the belief that we are all made in God’s image and deserve the love and respect of our fellow man. Their vision is to be able to offer a safe, warm and secure place to spend the night for anyone over the age of 18 who has nowhere else to sleep.
“Everyone needs to be accepted and treated with dignity. In a world of homelessness, addiction, fear, rejection and marginalisation the Swindon Night Shelter aims to come alongside the needy to show that somebody does care”.
They also aim to minister to spiritual needs as well as the emotional and physical needs of the homeless and vulnerable by being a visible testimony of Jesus Christ. Consequently they work closely with Churches and Christians in Swindon and surrounding area.
They run a Night Shelter in St Mary’s Church hall, Cheney Manor Road, Swindon, SN2 2PF. Friday night from 9pm to 8am the following morning. At the Shelter guests are offered a hot meal, fresh clean clothes, a chance to shower, a bed for the night and food to take away as well as a chance to relax, chat and hear God’s word.
They operate a Day Centre: “The Haven” on Queens Drive, Swindon, SN3 1AR, during the week. Tel: 01793 613166/07748 156650. Big Breakfast Plus serve breakfast 7 days a week at the Haven from 7.30am – 8.30am for anyone who is homeless or in need in the Swindon area.
TSNS work with local supermarkets and other businesses in Swindon, to collect and distribute charitable surplus to those who are in need and can use it as well as offering brand new household goods at affordable prices at “The Hub” shop and café: Open Monday – Friday, 10am – 4pm, 9 Clive Parade, Cricklade Road, Swindon, SN2 1AJ.
